Center of Portugal (Centro de Portugal) is, as its name already implies, the central region of the country. Located 40 kilometers north of Lisbon and 40 kilometers south of Porto. So what’s on the menu? Because of the wide variety of terrain, you can expect food from the mountains, the sea, and everything in between.
In Portugal people have a warm meal for lunch and dinner. Normally one of these meals is meat and the other fish. The Portuguese are the largest consumers of fish, surpassed only by the Japanese. Olive oil is also one of the essential ingredients, as it is in all Mediterranean cuisine. And let’s not forget the tasty wines from the Dão region.
