At John Baker the entire proces, from flour to bread, is done by hand using regional, seasonal and pure organic ingredients. The chocolate-bread contains fair and eco chocolate from Ghana and the meat for their sandwiches is sourced from organic Demeter farms. Hiltl vegetarian butcher shop in Zurich
In november 2013 Hiltl opened the first vegetarian butcher shop in Switzerland. It sits next to their famous ‘Haus Hiltl’, the oldest (115 years!) vegetarian restaurant in the world, about which I have written before. Hiltl in Zürich
Hiltl has been in business for over 100 years. This makes it the oldest known vegetarian restaurant in the world and a must to visit when you are in Zurich. Even carnivores will admit that the food at Hiltl is delicious. I have been a regular at Hiltl for many years now and the quality of the food has only increased. There are a couple menu mainstays but the staff keeps on developing new delightful dishes. For me this is one of their strengths and a great reason to be coming back.
