Het Ambacht in Heerenveen with its Friesian, organic, sustainable and honest food, is unique because of their wish to earn a social star. Inspired by the concept of Fifteen, Henk Markus, patron-cuisinier, has accepted the challenge of producing top culinary cuisine with ten to fifteen young adults who come from troubled backgrounds. Like Fifteen, the youngsters follow classes and can directly put the learned into practice in the kitchen of Het Ambacht.

The kitchen combines regional Friesian produce from the meadows and the Waddensea with Mediterranean ingredients. You will find the same combination of styles in the restaurant where beautiful photo’s of Italy and Spain adorn the walls.

On the menu you will find an ever change three course market menu and much more to choose from. I highly recommend the vegetarian dishes, especially ‘structuren en texturen van wortel’ (structure and texture of carrot). It looks stunning! No meat nor fish, but still it’s packed with delicious flavour.

Strait out of the gates Het Ambacht has shown their high ambitions with food for an affordable price. In our humble opinion they have already earned that social star!
